Analysis

Creators and Viewers are really two different audiences. To focus the offering around their different goals it made sense to split the product into two apps. Some effort was required to persuade Qumu's stakeholders this was a good idea. After discussion and wireframing, we were all in agreement that it provided substantial benefits not only for the user but the business too.

Why split the app by audience?

  • More streamlined experiences
  • Quicker to reach user goals
  • Opportunities for targeted marketing
  • More Agile-like development process

Design Process

The new experience was designed around our users: lightweight, consistent and simple to use.

Outcomes

Splitting the apps allowed a more agile process to build and extend them. The biggest benefit: the apps feel simple and focused, not too cluttered, with just the relevant features.
